College of Liberal Arts invites alumni to attend Portland showing of 'This Film is Not Yet Rated'
OSU professor Jon Lewis will lead a discussion of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and its film ratings process after a Saturday, Sept. 16, showing on opening weekend of the new documentary, "This Film Is Not Yet Rated." Lewis is featured prominently in the film, which opens Sept. 15 at Cinema 21 in Portland. His 2000 book, "Hollywood v. Hard Core: How the Struggle Over Censorship Created the Modern Film Industry," caught the attention of director Kirby Dick, who was nominated for an Oscar for his 2004 documentary on sexual abuse in the Catholic Church titled "Twist of Faith." (Note: This event is not sponsored by the OSU Alumni Association, but the association agreed to help the College of Liberal Arts get the word out to Portland-area alumni.)
