Lunchtime companion is no ordinary Joe (Joe is a 1942 OSU forestry grad.)
Among my often-shifting philosophies of life is never sustain a relationship with someone from whom you can learn nothing of value. This will no doubt curtail the number of friends you have, but it will also reduce the hours of boredom. Following that philosophy has led me to know and befriend some interesting persons, and one of them is Joseph Jaeger of Jefferson City. Joe is a man of diminutive stature with just a wisp of hair and a pair of expressive eyes. ...The intriguing part of Joe's life began at age 18 when he drove for Harry S Truman during his tenure in the U.S. Senate. ...After his experience with Truman, Joe graduated from Oregon State University's School of Forestry. With that degree in hand, and some help from then-Sen. Truman, he became a park ranger in Yosemite National Park. |
