OSU scientists are skeptical of report criticizing antioxidant use
Scientists at Oregon State University sprung to the defense of antioxidant supplements after a study they believe to be flawed was published today in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The research in question concluded that supplements such as vitamins A and E may “significantly increase mortality,” and that vitamin C does nothing to reduce mortality rates.

Filmmaker says he's discovered tomb of Jesus
With Lent under way and Easter looming came the timely announcement Monday from movie director James Cameron that he hopes to top his Oscar-winning feat of dredging up the Titanic by digging up the bones of Jesus and his family. The pitch goes like this: Tune in at 9 p.m. Sunday to the Discovery Channel for "The Lost Tomb of Jesus: The One Revelation That Could Change Everything." Biblical scholars far and wide sighed wearily -- and warily -- as soon as Cameron's pitch hit the Internet and airwaves... At Oregon State University, internationally known Bible scholar Marcus Borg said, "All I know about this is what popped up in an AOL news alert today, but bottom line, I'm very skeptical. They're claiming that the particular set of names found in this tomb make this Jesus' family, but those names are all so common that this claim is extraordinarily speculative." |

Conference title comes as no surprise to Beavers
All season, coach Jim Zalesky has told his Oregon State wrestlers he believes in their ability to surprise even themselves. "No limitations," senior 174-pounder Jeremy Larson said. "He thinks we should shoot high, that we can compete with anybody. He said there's nobody out there you can't compete with if you just go after it." The 16th-ranked Beavers won their first Pacific-10 Conference championship since 1994 over the weekend at Cal State Bakersfield and they will send at least six -- possibly seven -- wrestlers to the NCAA championships March 15-17 in Detroit.
